As Starfi3ld has mentioned, we will be moving servers again. =D I’m pleased to announce that the transfer process is almost done. =)

Once all the animes are transfered, I will transfer the site over. There might be some downtime (as should be expected), but I’ll try my best to minimized it. You can bookmark the chatbox to keep yourself updated. If all goes well, the transition should be over by next week or earlier. ^_^v

Oh, the new place will have all the newest episodes available, as I don’t have time to update both places.

Hello all,

I think you might be getting bored of my frequent posts. I have managed to strike an awesome deal with the old host and we are moving back. The main reason we are moving back is because of the speed issues many people have been experiencing. The move will take at least a week but we will try to move as fast as possible.

I guess I will miss 7ms(its INSANE!) latency from the current host. We got double the cores, double the ram, and a Raid 5 array (results in 6tb worth of hdd space) for an extra 25usd over our current server costs which is good for us in the long run. We can run more things.. Yay!

I would like to ask your opinion if we could ditch the front page updates and just update the links. As updating the frontpage is very time consuming, Admins such as myself usually postpone updating the site. The results would be faster updates without any notification on the front page. The site would then be updated almost everyday this way with no time lag. Thus this site will can keep up with the anime updates. I think even Riogi is getting tired from the constant typing and updates.

So updated front page or not? POLL IT!

Edit: another suggestion, We can put up the expected release date of animes +-1 day. like Bleach every wednesday of the week.etc. No? yes?

After a whole day and a stroke of google luck, the server is now happily chugging along once again. Yorokobe, shokun-tachi! =D Let me know in the comments if there’s anything not working properly.

Oh, the reason the server went M.I.A. was because we paid late. Was scraping around for change to cover for the remainder. After the server was reconnected, it just broke down on its own. It was “here we go again…” for me. ^^;;

Yo mina-san, the donators’ page and numbers have all been fully updated! If you notice your name missing from the list, please let me know ASAP. Last month was incredible, as we managed to cover the server cost with some extras! Hontou ni arigatou gozaimashita! ^^;;

It is also the time of the month to pay the server fees, and we’re still short for this month. Thank you very much for your continued support, everyone!

By the way, the ratings for Bakemonogatari is off the roof in ANN. Is it really that great?? If it is, I can’t wait for it to finish next month, then I can marathon it in one go. =D The pics I’ve seen in a few reviews were all pretty delicious looking. A lot of face shoots lol.

It’s been a while, and Waltzie presents you another of his late night anime updates. ^_^ Not the healthiest of activities, I know, do try to forgive me. Been fixing and patching up the server for the last few days, and I’m pretty much done for now. It should be pretty fast and efficient right now, and hopefully serving the site and animes faster than ever. Feels rewarding when things work properly. Our chatbox is as lively as ever, always happy to see that too, hehe.

And as Starfi3ld mentioned in the previous post, the server fees are due tomorrow, and we still have around US$60 left to cover for this month. I hope we make it in time. A round of back-pats and hugs for those courageous souls who have donated. Thank you!

To all our dear BT.net Mac users, if you’ve been having problems watching those lovely and gorgeous HD animes that are abundant on BT.net, I have some wonderful news for you!

Some of you might already know about all this, but I’ve just found out about it a moment ago. Guess I wasn’t that free huh, and when was the last time I made a post here too…? ^^;; This might not apply to all our Mac users, but those not using the newer Macs might benefit from it.

So, I’ve been having problems playing some of those sweet 720 and 1080 animes, and I’m using a MacBook Pro 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo with a ATI Radeon X1600. It’s about 2 years old now, but it’s still not that crappy yet. The most ironic part is, I’m dual-booting Windows 7 RC1 on my MBP using Bootcamp, and the HD stuff plays fine there with CCCP and CoreAVC, what the heck! So I’ve been watching Tears to Tiara on Windows for the past few days… Bleh.

Finally, as i was searching around for some VLC skins and mods, when I came across an unexpected discovery! Apparently, someone else is creating an up-to-date version of MPlayer, called MPlayer OSX Extended! And I also rediscovered NicePlayer, which has been updated a lot!

So (the old) MPlayer, VLC and Quicktime with the Perian plugin has been my 3 main video players. Now I can discard MPlayer in favor of MPlayer Extended, and NicePlayer takes over Quicktime.

I’ve tried playing the same Tears to Tiara files that were choking my MBP with the older players, and now I can play them fine with MPlayer Extended and NicePlayer as well! Banzai! Have been considering upgrading to the newer Macs, but all those thoughts just flew right out the window. Heh.

Was tinkering around with the server yesterday, but all seems fine now. Will update the FAQ section with my new discovery later.

Oh, and if anyone will be going to Daicon tomorrow, I might just cross path with any of you and not know at all. lol. Have a great weekend, mina-san!

Well, I’m back. The truth is, Starfi3ld wanted these posts of mine to have anime news, but I told him I didn’t really follow. Which is true. Still, I felt a little bad – so I found this article and copy pasted it for you.

Grapes of Wrath to be Fifty Episode Epic.Studio Gonzo has announced just this week their intentions to convert American classic ‘Grapes of Wrath’ into a fifty episode epic anime series. “We’re running out of good, solid novels on this side of the ocean,” the director to be, who asked to be un-named, told the news at the time. “They’ve almost all been done here, and the rest refuse to negotiate. Some of the attempts got fairly ugly, there were some very rude references to previous works and even a death threat or two from fans of the original pieces. So we decided to look elsewhere.”

Grapes of Wrath, in addition to having a long standing record as a Great Novel, has the added advantage of no longer falling under copyright laws (present legislature states a written works copyright expires at fifty years). This combination proved an irresistible lure to the anime companies material seekers, as economic downturns make not having to pay the exorbitant fees authors have been demanding as compensation of late a major factor. “It’s a very thick classic, but we can work with that,” the director stated confidently. When asked about the studio’s background and familiarity with the work, they confessed that, prior to it’s selection, there had been none, but that proper research has been done. “We tried to read the book, but we couldn’t do it. So we took the suggestion of two college interns we had at the time and got copies of the Cliff Notes for the whole staff. They have all been required to read it, and progress with the script is expected to go quickly.” The students refused to be named or interviewed.

Asked about planned directions, the director was happy to enlighten us. “I can confidently state that rolling waves of dust have never been so realistically rendered,” he enthused. “And action scenes -  you have to have action scenes. I don’t know how the book managed without them. We probably would have been able to read the original if there had been action scenes.”

A release date has not yet been determined.

Lol I hope I spelled it right. Okay, we have just managed to raise enough money before the deadline. Although the donation is monthly, We have to pay the datacenter every 20th of the Month. Our reserve was kinda low since the month before that we didnt achieve the target. so 19usd left!

The day that we have more than 3000 different visitors a day, I might consider getting another server to provide better speeds. Again there will be a new problem, Monthly Donation targets might have  to increase Before that, I hope the V2 of bt.net would be released and the forum will be active. Again I would like to recommend more interaction between members and admins and everyone else in the shoutbox or the comment thread.

Well! My second time posting directly to the home page. Starfi3ld has noted that it has gotten quite staid up here, only update posts and none of the more personal sort of talks and comments he and Black Waltz used to put up here back when they had the time. So I’ve been asked to recitfy this…treat it as sort of an anime blog and keep it interesting. Well, unfortunately for you all, my latest experience was to become totally disgusted with Toaru Majutsu no Index, so this first post will be…a rant. Of sorts, anyway.

Just remember this is Stafi3ld’s fault.

I finally got my avatar for the occasion anyway. I had a more distant pose in mind, one of those somewhere high and looking up poses Zed (from Kiba) was always doing. I liked them. But that would have taken some searcing for a good screenshot, and I found this fast in episode two. I like it too. And for those who know about those numbers in the corner and are wondering how I got rid of them, remember my degree (almost finished) is in graphic design. Just a bit of photoshop (bragging and ranting: this is gonna be a prize set of posts, huh?).

Anyway…I never watch in production series, but that’s because I don’t like hitting the wall. At the twenty three episode mark (for a twenty six episode series), I figure I’m safe for that, since I watch three at a time, and switch off. I started Soul Eater about two weeks ago, and now Casshern Sins, Toaru Majutsu no Index, and Shikabane Hime have hit the mark (Shikibane Hime is, effectively, a twenty four episode series). I’ll rave on Casshern next time, as a balance.

Actually, I was watching Toaru for the characters from the beginning I think. The action didn’t actually get to me much, and his righteous speeches were too long. But he was fun most of the time, his teacher was more so, and Index was a riot, and had a few touches that kept her from being too much like a lot of other parrallel characters in other anime. Then I got to four, and felt like I was being force fed horse manure. Working not to give spoilers…I’ll just say that everything they said, did, and revealed seemed so stupidly wrong it drove me nuts. Then, because I always watch one more episode after such an experience, just in case, I watched five, and thought it would all be okay. The fact that it was all wrong was part of the plot – all of the sudden, it looked good again, with an interesting twitch of antagonist. I was really pleased, in fact. Then I went innocently on to six – and was disgusted all over again. Why is it that nobody ever convinces people in anime to do things by actually addressing the point, instead of yelling about resolve until, I suppose, their eyes glaze over and they forget why they were resisting. Instead of telling what he’d found out, which effectively justified everything, he spends way too long to say ‘didn’t you want to save her’, and then takes more than fifteen seconds to cross fifteen feet at a dead run. Normally this doesn’t bother me because it’s not fifteen seconds in ‘their’ time, it’s fifteen in ours. All the dialogue is thought; it’s not taking as long to happen as it is to tell it to us. That’s fine. But Index was talking out loud, so it was their time, during most of which he apparently was running in place to build atmosphere. Then we get a truly stupid and pointless plot twist that does nothing except make things more complicated to no useful or entertaining purpose (just pain on my part), not to mention giving him an excuse to make more bad speeches and say trite platitudes.  And of course the twist itself had no basis – either he was saved or not. There was no good reason for it to have worked out the way they described it. Again, my policy is: after the episode that makes me want to dump it, watch just one more in case. So I watched seven. I was kinda hoping that things would finally straighten out, but at the end I was so utterly not entertained that I have, for the moment, decided to give it up. If there is anyone out there who thinks that, despite all I’ve said, I might change my mind if I tried just a little longer, tell me. I haven’t deleted it yet. And my computer is still blocking the chatbox.

P.S. My computer is also blocking facebook, which is why I haven’t responded to your friend request, Hamudi. Sorry. I’m putting pressure on my mom to get it straightened out. I’m supposed to be allowed there >_<.

Well, usually I’m making the news on monday’s morning, but today I’ve decided myself to do it on sunday so I’ll have a little more time, as there’s a lot to say.

First of all, it seems I managed to fix the Archives section thanks to a tip granted to me by Boon. So just to let know the other admins… Don’t ever set a directory with more than 50 (well 51 seems to be fine) files in it. You have to separate the files into – Part 01 -Part 02 like I did for both InuYasha and One Piece (please try to keep the same subdirectory naming system). At least I have access to it right now, so I think most of you should too… To get access, you’ll however need to clear your cache (and probably your cookies). Just google “clear internet cache” if you don’t know how to do it.

Apologies to the members as it’s seem to be my lack of knowledge of the site that made it screwing… But, after all, I’m not totally responsible for this boontime as… Boon only told me about that two days ago :p
